Best Selling Toys Of 2012 Might Include App Toys


One of the biggest new trends at the 2012 New York Toy Fair is known as Generation App. This term was actually coined by Toy Experts. Bascially, this takes physical toys and merges it with digital – whether that be an iPad, iPhone, or some other smartphone. Many toy experts are predicting these toys are going to be on many best selling toys 2012 lists. It’s important to note that physical toys are not being replaced rather the digital component enhances play patterns. So without further adieu we present some of the toys based on this trend.

Nerf Lazer Tag
Nerf’s Lazer Tag line has always experienced enormous success. Now Hasbro has updated its Lazer Tag guns. Hasbro’s latest Lazer Tag allows users to pair their blasters with an iPhone or iPod Touch. You basically mount your iDevice inside the top portion of the blaster and what you get is an augmented HUD view. You have to strap in your device. You play against virtual opponents but you also use it to track your battles against humans. So you can actually play this version of Lazer Tag by yourself. The app indicates your gear and power levels and your progress is tracked on a leaderboard. The more you play, the more attacks and gear will be revealed, which will enhance your overall laser tag gameplay experience. The app is even capable of displaying the trajectory of your blasts, which is pretty cool. 

App Drive
App Drive is a cool concept that allows you to turn your iDevice into a steering wheel of sorts. It allows you to feel like you are actually driving in your favorite games. You basically place your iDevice or Android device inside the App Drive gadget and your are ready for a world of driving fun.
Hot Wheels Activity App

The Hot Wheels Activity App highlights the new Generation App trend. It combines physical toys with the digital world – in this case an iPad app. The games is built around the Team Hot Wheels Test Facility.You basically have to pass all of the levels and achievements in order join Team Hot Wheels. You can choose to play with the Hot Wheels vehicles on the iPad or off the iPad. The iPad is sold separately of course and this digital play experience enhances the play experience for kids. There are several different Hot Wheels vehicles to collect. Collect all of your favorite Hot Wheels vehicles.

Life Apped
Almost everyone has already heard of or played the game of Life. Well, now there’s an updated version of Life, where you can play along with your iPad. This is a new app version of Life. There are a lot of interactive bits, such as power-ups and 3d content, to keep the kids interested and engaged. This is a fun new version of the game of Life. The traditional board is included along with pieces but the iPad is not included. Apple’s iPad is sold separately.

Monopoly Apped
Most people have probably already played the game of Monopoly. Now Hasbro has a new Monopoly game that integrates with the iPad. You can play along with your iPad and there will be plenty of interactive content on the iPad to keep kids and players entertained and engaged. The traditional board will be included but the iPad is not included. Apple’s iPad is sold separately. Monopoly will be even more fun now with the introduction of the iPad.

Furby
The new Furby of 2012 also has gotten into the mix of things. By combining an iPad and a new Furby you can digitally feed your Furby. You’ll need to download an app on your Ipad of course that is specifically designed to work along with the new Furby.
